The development team for the PlayStation 4 (unofficial name) is being put together by Sony Computer Entertainment. The World Wide Studios of Sony are tipping in to help develop the future generation of hardware concepts to test and refine for the newest console system. This is a large leap for the company, especially considering the capabilities of the PlayStation 3 console which was released in 2006 and has undergone hardware upgrades and “slimming” with the thinner console. The hardware team and development team will be put together to ensure that the console will get the most improvement capabilities possible. Work on the next generation PlayStation 4 console is starting now to ensure that game developers and software creators to have advance access to the creation process. Future platform related activities are being discussed which could be hard on software creators who have struggled in the past to really make use of what the previous consoles by Sony were capable of. This makes it possible for better games to be created sooner with the release of the console launch which has been a major hassle for gaming consoles from Sony and its competitors. The advanced access to the future generation PlayStation 4 console will make a very large selection of games possible with amazingly advanced graphics and capabilities. The game selection from a greater diversity of game developers will be possible sooner. Licensing for such games can also be done sooner and provide fewer legality issues by allowing access to copywriting sooner for games developed for the system in advance. This is all possibly by building upon the current universal game engine as well as using new technologies which are currently being developed for the PlayStation 3, the PlayStation Portable/Go system and even advanced controller technologies such as the PlayStation move. It will be interesting to see what the next version of consoles looks like from the major developers. With the Playstation Move coming out soon, which is Sony’s answer to the Nintendo Wii and Microsoft Kinect, it will be very interesting to see what the next version ships with. Will traditional controllers go away or will they stay with their roots and incorporate the movement gaming into the system like they did with generation of consoles (minus the Wii). It is hard to imagine graphics getting better, I am perfectly happy with my current generation console, but I am sure the move will be towards 3D completely.

The highly-anticipated Playstation Move is coming soon! This year’s E3 was the first in a while where no one at Sony said “This is going to be the year of the Playstation”, and ironically, this is the first year in a long while where we would have agreed with that statement. Sony brought something to the show fer every type of gamer. They showed off Playstation Move, Playstation Plus, and a wide variety of new games, including one big surprise – Twisted Metal for the PS3. Playstation Move might look like a Wiimote with a ball on the end, but Sony is packing some serious punch into the device. Playstation Move will support all of the mini games you’ve come to expect from a motion controller, but it’s also going to be used in some clever ways in more traditional games. One such game demoed at E3 was Sorcery, in which Move is used as a magic wand. By doing different gestures with Playstation Move, spells can be cast in different ways. Spells can also be stacked on top of one another to create different effects. The example shown during E3 was a flaming tornado created by first casting a wall of fire, and then sending a wind spell through it. Take it from us,  any game with a flaming tornado of doom is sure to be a hit. Rumors had been swirling for a long time about a premium Playstation Network service, and Sony finally made the announcement at E3. Playstation Plus will cost $50 USD per year, or $18 USD for three months, and as a member you’ll get early access to demos, access to beta tests, full free PSN games, free Playstation Minis, and the ability to automatically download all Playstation Plus content. Hardcore gamers will be happy to hear that Gran Turismo 5 finally has an official release date: November 2nd. Killzone 3 also has a release date, though it’s a little more vague; that game is due to hit store shelves sometime in February 2011. The big surprise for hardcore Sony fans was the announcement of a new Twisted Metal game headed to the PS3. Very few details were given about the game, but we do know that it will feature a wide variety of new game modes and vehicles, including flying vehicles. The PS3 is going to have a lot of big, successful, exclusive games over the course of the next year or so. Sony had a top-notch showing at E3, and we can’t wait to get our hands on Playstation Move later this year. We’ll be sure to bring you more information on all the games Sony had to show at E3 as it becomes available.

A few weeks ago the Heavy Rain front boxart was released, and today GameStop has made available the back boxart which reveals a mandatory 4.2GB PS3 HDD installation. For those curious, Sony has also confirmed that they will offer a Heavy Rain alternate PS3 box art print out on launch. To quote from JustPushStart.com (linked above): “You might want to save an extra 4.2GB of space in your hard drive as the game will REQUIRE (as the game boxart suggests) you to install the game’s data in order to proceed. It sure is a lot of space but as you are waiting for the data to install in your hard drive, there will be a guide showing you on how to make a Swan Origami (as featured in the game) while you’re waiting for the game to install.” Heavy Rain pre-orders are now available for $59.99 and the PlayStation 3 title is scheduled to ship on February 23, 2010.

I was quite disappointed as i was not able to get my Bluetooth to work. The pairing worked fine but nothing happened in the chat or online. The next day i went to EB games again as my son wanted to trade in some games and what do I see: a Ps3 Cordless Vantage Headset!!! I just had to have it and got it! And it works like a charm! No cables, walk away up to 30 feet, up to 12hrs talk/play time, fit left or right ear… it is a well worth it buy.
