In the motion controller world it has come down to Playstation Move VS Kinect. With the success of the Nintendo Wii, it was only a matter of time before Sony tried to capture their piece of the motion controller pie.
We all know that the Playstation 3 has more power than the Wii, but what about the Xbox 360? These two consoles are fighting neck and neck. There really is no comparison between the Wii and the Playstation 3. That leaves just two companies competing for the motion controller crown. It is Playstation Move VS Kinect.
While Microsoft’s Kinect makes your body the controller, the Playstation Move combines the powerful PS3 system, the Playstation Eye Camera, and the Playstation Move motion controller. What you get is a motion controller system unlike anything else.
How does Playstation Move compare to Microsoft’s Kinect?
It doesn’t really compare at all. They are two completely different types of motion controllers. They both have their good points and bad points. The Playstation Move offers a unique gameplay experience for the world of Playstation. It is being integrated into newer games, older games and classic game franchises that PS3 owners love. It offers a unique gameplay experience in shooters, but both the Playstation Move and the Microsoft Kinect have some noticeable lag that can affect gameplay.
Playstation Move’s secret weapon?
The Playstation Move does have one unique trick up it’s sleeve, the Playstation Move Navigation controller. This one accessory is pretty much the same as the Wii Nunchuk, but much better. The most noticeable difference is a lack of wires. The Playstation Move Navigation controller is wireless. It also has more buttons. Its job is to duplicate the functions of the left side of the Playstation controller. This is the one thing that the Microsoft Kinect lacks, but needs so desperately. For gamers, novelties wear off quickly, and the fact that the Microsoft Kinect has no real navigation controller could be its downfall.
Another secret weapon?
Because the Playstation Move uses actual controllers, it allows for more unique accessories, like the Playstation Move gun. This allows you play first person shooter games with the Playstation Move. There are other guns that you can use as well like the Playstation Move Sharp Shooter. This add-on requires the Playstation Move navigation controller, and it makes playing first person shooters a completely different experience.
Once you put your hands on the the Playstation Move Sharp Shooter, you will quickly notice that playing games like Killzone 3 becomes much different. They are fun, but it just does not feel the same. It does not feel as accurate as the regular hand held controller, but it is still a literal blast to play!
Best Playstation Move games.
The controller is only as good as the games, but rest assured there are plenty of games that utilize the Playstation Move, and there are even more being developed as you read this article. There are even some older games that after a quick update, will allow you to use the Playstation Move to play them. Games like MAG and Heavy Rain are great examples.
There are plenty of classic sports games that have become synonymous with motion controllers like: Brunswick Pro Bowling, Dance Dance Revolution, and Virtua Tennis 4. There are family friendly games like: EyePet & Friends and Carnival Island. Hardcore gamers will love playing Killzone 3 and Socom 4: U.S. Navy Seals.
Sony’s attempt at motion controller gaming has been a huge success, but will it change the way we play games like Microsoft’s Kinect? Only time will tell, and in the end it really comes down to Playstation Move VS Kinect.
