Massive Multiplayer All Point Bulletins To Relaunch As APB Reloaded
Get ready for the online shooter game APB Reloaded!
September 16th 2010 was a sad day in the video game world. Video game developer Realtime Worlds announced that they would be shutting down the game APB. There was no reason given for the APB shutdown. Gamers were just going to be left out in the cold.
APB: All Points Bulletin was a multiplayer online game for the PC. It was based in a fictional city that featured real world urban scenery and backdrops. You could choose to be an Enforcer ( the good guys ), or a Criminal ( obviously the bad guys ).
The game’s lead designer, David Jones is no stranger to the video game world. He was one of the original contributors to the hugely successful Grand Theft Auto and Crackdown games. The shutdown of APB caught a lot of gamers by surprise, but there would be a silver lining to this bad news.
K2 Network purchased APB for 1.5 million dollars in November of 2010. There was no information on when or if the game was going to be re-released. Then the good news came. On November 16th, K2 games announced through its subsidiary company, that APB would be re-released in the first half of 2011. That was pretty good news for gamers. It gets better. They also announced that the game would have a new name: APB Reloaded, and here comes the best part. It would be free to download, and it would be free to play.

This was fantastic news for gamers all over the world. If APB Reloaded was going to be anything like its predecessor, then it would be a great game to play. The fact that game play won’t cost you one cent is just the icing on the cake for this huge surprise, but keep reading because it gets even better.
On February 24th invitations were sent out to apply for a closed Beta. Not everyone that applied would get a chance to play, but a few lucky players would get to try it out before anyone else. It just keeps getting better.
On March 4th 5000 lucky players received keys to join the beta testing of the game with more to be sent in the next few days. 10000 more were sent out on March 15th. By April 21st 150000 total invitations had been sent. 35000 more were sent out the next day. The closed beta was filled. The open beta begins is just a few days. Mark your calendars people. Open beta begins on May 18th.
