LA Noire is unlike any other game that you have played. It does have some similarities to other games by Famous game developer Rockstar. It has the huge open world like Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, but that is where the similarities stop and the world that is LA Noire draws you in and takes you back in time.

June 5th 1940. Los Angeles is a city that has a life of its own. Crime was happening everywhere and it was up to Cole Phelps to deliver justice and use his investigating skills to solve murders that keep plaguing the city.

Women have been the targets, and they have all been brutally murdered. You arrive at the crime scene and step into the shoes of Cole Phelps, an ex-marine who wants to make sure that justice is served.

The gameplay in LA Noire is unique and requires some thinking on the gamers part. It is different than anything you have played, and the thinking mechanic just might turn off a few people, but the point of this game is immersion. There is no other game that lets you become a character quite as well as LA Noire does.

You have to become a detective. You have to start to think like a detective and you really have to pay very close attention to every single detail in the crime scene no matter how small it may seem. You may find yourself scratching your head a few times just like a real detective would as you think your way through the evidence.

Shop For LA NoireIf there is a body at the crime scene, you can actually approach the body and search it for clues. You can zoom in on certain areas that may or may not hold clues. You can move the head from side to side, move the hands and search the pockets if the victim is wearing clothes.

All of the clues from the crime scene will be written down in your notebook. You will need to use them later when it comes time to question people of interest.

After you scour the crime scene for clues, it is time to question various people of interest. This is where LA Noire really starts to shine. The facial animations in this game are unlike anything seen in a video game. They look very real and they convey emotions like anger, nervousness and subtle little clues that you have to use to determine if someone is lying.

You are given three choices with each question. You can chose truth, doubt or lie. If you think that the person is telling the truth, then chose truth. If you think they are lying, you must have some kind of evidence to back it up. If you are not sure and you don’t have evidence, then the only other choice is doubt.

You are awarded intuition points as you rank up during the game. You can use these points to help you with your questioning. For one point you can remove one of the choices that is incorrect. This leaves you with a 50-50 chance, or you can use one point to see what other players have chosen.

If you are a good detective your choices will lead to more clues that will allow you to build a rock solid case. If you make a mistake, you can’t go back and you will not have as many clues. This portion of the game can be very difficult and frustrating if you get things wrong.

There is much more to LA Noire than questioning people. There are car chases that get extremely intense. There are various crimes happening all the time in the city. There are plenty of gun fights too, and you can choose to get involved or just let them happen.

LA Noire is not for everyone, but I guarantee that it is unlike any other game ever created. The city is so large that the game consists of three discs.

Everything is delivered perfectly, from the voice acting to the cut scenes, and like every other open world Rockstar game, there is plenty of violence and foul language.

LA Noire is a refreshing change that does not come along that often. Put on your detective hat, step into the shoes of Cole Phelps, and go back in time to the streets of L.A. with LA Noire.

My brother wanted Noir for his birthday. I guess I’ll get it for him since everyone else seems to like it, haha.

The only thing I didn’t like about this game was that some cases were IMPOSSIBLE to solve. Ugh.

It’s an interesting rockstar game, definitely. Much better done than Bully. I didn’t always like the interrogations, but it wasn’t the normal GTA kill hookers and cops n’ stuff. Good game.
